Jamestown  (UJ)  – A day after being selected as the North Star Athletic Association’s player of the week, Kaleb Binstock (JR/Grand Forks, ND) earned national accolades as well.

The NAIA recognzied Binstock as National Player of the Week following a seven home run, 22 RBI performance as the 16th-ranked Jimmies went 7-1.

Binstock hit .586 (17-for-29) and hit safely in all eight contests, with five multi-hit games, two three-hit games, and a four-hit game to his credit.

In UJ’s 18-5 win over Viterbo (Wis.) Friday, Binstock was 4-for-5 with a double, two home runs, eight runs batted in, and scored four times. Later that day, he hit two more homers and was 3-for-4 with four runs batted in and three runs scored in a 16-3 win over Dakota State (S.D.)

The home run barrage continued for Binstock on Saturday, as he connected on a three-run blast in a 22-2 win against Dakota State. He homered in both of Sunday’s games, scored five runs and drove in six more in a 7-2 win over Viterbo and a 23-8 victory against Dakota State. Binstock finished with a .586/.594/1.379 slash line and had a remarkable OPS of 1.973. The offensive outburst boosted his batting average 63 points (.379 to .442), and he now leads the Jimmies with 8 home runs and is third on the team with 35 RBI.

Jamestown finished the regular season with a record of 39-7, and their 16-6 NSAA record earned them the third seed in the conference tournament, which begins Friday at Jamestown and Valley City, N.D. UJ will face No. 6 Viterbo (Wis.) at 4:00 p.m. in the first round.
