MADISON, S.D.  (uj.edu)  — Kaiann Arellano (SR/Jamestown, N.D.) was selected as the North Star Athletic Association Field Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday.

Arellano won the NSAA heptathlon with a career-best and conference meet record score of 4,529 points for the Jimmies.  Her point total is the third-best in the NAIA this season. Arellano won the high jump, shot put and 100-meter hurdles.  She also placed second in the 200 and 800 meters, third in the javelin, and fourth in the long jump.

Following the heptathlon, Arellano led off UJ’s 4×100-meter relay team at the Dickinson State (N.D.) Last Chance meet, helped them to a second-place finish with a time of 49.85 seconds. She also qualified for nationals in the 100-meter hurdles after clocking a personal best time of 14.68 seconds.  Arellano has qualified for nationals in the heptathlon, 100-meter hurdles, high jump and 4×400-meter relay.

The NSAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be held at Trojan Field in Madison, S.D., beginning Thursday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. and will continue on Friday at 10:00 a.m.
