Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) — Jamestown Public Schools will open with full sessions Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at the following times.
Elementary grades 1-5 begins at 8:30 AM, Grades 6-8 begins at 8:30 AM and Grades 9-12 at 8:47 AM.
Kindergarten students will be assessed on August 22nd and 23rd and a schedule will be sent to parents, the first day of school for kindergarten students will be August 24th.
ALL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS with an “early bird” 7:50 AM class either at the High School or the Career and Technology Center will report to their homerooms at the High School at 8:47 AM on the first day of school.
Dismissal time at the High School is 3:08 PM, the Middle School at 3:10 PM and the elementary schools will be dismissed at 3:00 PM.
It is requested that the parents who have children who will be attending kindergarten, transport their children the first 2 days of school so that necessary arrangements can be made for the students requesting transportation service.
There will be:
NO SCHOOL on Monday, August 27, 2012 for teachers to attend professional development workshops. School will resume on Tuesday, August 28th.
MIDDLE SCHOOL HIGH SCHOOL SCHEDULES:
The following dates have been set aside for students to pick up their schedules:
Wednesday, August 15th
– Grades 6, 7, and 8 at the Middle School, Grades 10 and 12 at the High School
Thursday, August 16th
– Grades 6, 7, and 8 at the Middle School, Grades 9 and 11 at the High School
All consumable materials are purchased by the patrons. Textbooks for grades K-12 will be distributed in the students’ regular classroom the first day of school.
REGISTRATION:
Middle school and high school students who are new to the district may register by calling the Middle School office at 252-0317 or High School office at 952-4003 for an appointment to complete the necessary paperwork.
Kindergarten and elementary students new to the school district may register at the proper grade school building on Tuesday, August 14th.
Hours for registration are 9:00 AM to 12:00 noon and 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
FEES:
Registration for Bus Service, Food Service, and Activity fees and tickets will be from 8:00 AM to 4:45 PM on Wednesday, August 15th and Thursday, August 16th in the Middle School Cafeteria, 203 2nd Avenue SE, and in the High School Commons area at 1509 10th Ave NE, and in the Middle School Cafeteria only on Friday, August 17th.
TRANSPORTATION:
Bus service is provided for the rural public school area students by the school district at no cost.
Rural private school students may be transported if space is available. When available, intracity transportation is limited to those students who live 10 blocks or more from school.
The cost for a family is $90.00 per semester per child for the first 2 children, $75.00 per semester for each additional family member attending school in grades K-12.
RURAL students wishing transportation service must also register on the above dates.
SCHOOL LUNCH:
School lunches and breakfasts are available for all students in Jamestown Public Schools.
Your family might be eligible for free or reduced meal prices.
The School District encourages all families to complete the free or reduced meal application which is mailed to each family the second week of August.

The elementary student cost is $2.15 per day, the Middle School student cost is $2.25 per day and the High School student cost is $2.35 per day.
The adult cost is $3.00 per day.
Breakfast programs are available at all schools.
The elementary cost is $1.45 per day.
The Middle School and High School cost is $1.65 per day.
The adult cost is $2.15 per day. The School Lunch program is supported by the charge made to patrons for meals and by the subsidy received from Federal sources through the State Lunch Program
