Ben Prochniak (SR/West Fargo, N.D.) scored with 16 seconds left in regulation to send the match into overtime, and the University of Jamestown men’s soccer team held on for a 1-1 double-overtime draw against Concordia (Neb.) Saturday afternoon.
Carlos Ferrer was on the receiving end of a nifty through ball by Matthew Ho and put Concordia ahead 1-0 88 seconds into the match.
It appeared as if Concordia was going to come away the winner of the one-goal game before Prochniak’s heroics in the waning moments of the first 90.
Neither team could find the game-winner in the 20 extra minutes of time, and the Jimmies were able to stretch their run of unbeaten matches to three.
Shots were 12-6 in favor of the Bulldogs with both teams registering four shots on goal.
Jake Askew (JR/Rotherham, England) had three saves for UJ, now 6-7-2 overall and 5-4-1 in the GPAC.
The Jimmies close out the regular season at home next Sunday with a 3:30 p.m match against Presentation (S.D.) College.
