Tower City (NDHP) The North Dakota Highway Patrol has released the names of those involved in Friday evening’s triple fatal crash near Tower City, about 11:38-p.m.
16 year old Sophia Weshnevski, from Buffalo, N.D., was driving east on Cass County Road 10 when her SUV, a 2005 Lincoln Aviator, crossed into the westbound lane,.
The SUV struck a 2011 Ford Econoline van head-on, occupied by five people, three, died from their injuries.
A short time after the initial crash, 37 YOA John Wurtz, Utica, SD, crashed his 2003 F150 into the Aviator. Wurtz was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence and Possession of Marijuana. He was uninjured.
Those killed were: The van driver, 40-year-old Matthew Wipf of Tower City, along with passengers 43 year old Kathy Wipf, 43, of Tower City, and 46 year old Dorothy Decker, of Ipswich, South Dakota.
The two van passengers who survived were 35 year old Heidi Hoffer, and 50 year old Henry Decker,both from Ipswich. They were taken to a Fargo hospital for treatment of their injuries.
The 16-year-old was flown to a Fargo hospital with serious injuries.
Hoffer was listed in good condition at Sanford Medical Center on Sunday evening. The conditions of the other survivors were not available.
Both crashes remain under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
