Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News May 6, 2013) – The Jamestown Public School Board, at the May 6 meeting, declined to “renew” (reconsider) its previous April 25 decision, which was to not hire Jeff Nold. (watch 20 minute video posted below)
The meeting had been moved to the gym to hold an anticipated large crowd. After hearing from 2 individuals of the public and a board member asking the full Board to revisit the matter, to reconsider the previous vote, the motion to “renew”, the first step in reconsideration, failed, 4 to 5.
Voting in favor of reconsidering the April 25 vote, (bringing the matter back for more discussion and revote) were board members: Diane Hanson, Gail Martin, Heidi Larson, and Greg Allen. (Hanson, Martin, and Allen supported hiring Nold in the April 25 vote).
Opposed to reopening the matter were board members: Roger Haut, Roy Musland, Tanya Ostlie, Shelly Jystad and Terry Anderson.
The motion to renew failed, closing off any further discussion at the meeting. The Board moved on to other business. The crowd of 125 to 150 individuals left quietly. The business teaching position at Jamestown High School remains unfilled.
The discussion was recorded by The Replay Channel and is posted online for readers to hear the full discussion.
