Jamestown (uj.edu) The University of Jamestown women’s soccer team remained unbeaten in Great Plains Athletic Conference action, blanking Morningside (Iowa) College 3-0 Saturday afternoon at Jimmie Turf Field.
UJ (4-4, 3-0 GPAC) took an early lead in the eighth minute on Nicole Morrison (SR/Idaho Falls, Idaho)’s second goal of the season.
Jamestown made the single-goal lead hold until the 76th minute when Gabrielle Diarte scored to make it 2-0. A little under ten minutes later, Karlie Hintze (FR/Herald, Calif.) made it 3-0 following a perfectly placed corner kick cross by Holly Swan (SR/Hampshire, England). Diarte’s goal was her second of the year while Hintze notched her first collegiate tally.
Shots were 19-6 in favor of the Jimmies, as were shots on goal (10-2). Twelve of Jamestown’s shots came in the second half. Jamestown also had a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.
UJ is at Briar Cliff (Iowa) University on Thursday for a 3 p.m. match.
