City Wide Clean Up Week for Jamestown is June 3 through June 8.
Pickup starts in SE Jamestown on Monday, SW on Tuesday, NW on Wednesday and NE on Thursday.
Crews start the pickup at 9 a.m. each day. Residents are asked not to put items on the street more than two days prior to pickup.

CITY-WIDE RESIDENTIAL CURBSIDE CLEAN-UP
Commercial, Educational and Religious Entities are Not Included JUNE 3 – 8, 2013
Place materials that WILL BE picked up on the roadway as close to the curb or shoulder as possible by 7:00 am, the morning of, but no sooner than two days ahead of, the following schedule:
MONDAY, June 3, 2013: Southeast section of the city
TUESDAY, June 4, 2013: Southwest section of the city
WEDNESDAY, June 5, 2013: Northwest section of the city.
THURSDAY, June 6, 2013: Northeast section of the city.
City Street crews will begin pick-up by 9 a.m. each day and the Sanitation (Collection) Department will start as soon as the normal garbage routes can be completed, but no later than 3 p.m. each day. City crews will work until that section of city is completed for the specified day. CITY CREWS WILL NOT RETURN TO AN AREA ONCE THAT AREA HAS BEEN PICKED-UP.
What kind of materials WILL BE picked up?
TREE BRANCHES – Must be less than 4 feet in length, less than 2″ in diameter, and must be tied in bundles not weighing more than 50 pounds.
BASIC HOUSEHOLD ITEMS (furniture, toys, mattresses, etc…. Place in neat, separate piles of similar materials.
SMALL SCALE BUILDING/REMODELING/LANDSCAPING DEBRIS (wood and lumber, carpet and padding, wall board, tile, tubs and sinks, doors, windows, gutters, fencing, non-creosoted landscaping timbers, brick pavers, etc…. “Small scale” means the approximate volume of a level pick-up truck bed. Place in neat, separate piles of similar materials. Wood, lumber, fencing and non-creosoted landscaping timbers must be broken apart, tied in bundles of less than 4 feet in length and weighing less than 50 pounds. Carpeting and padding must be rolled up and tied.
What materials WILL NOT be picked up?
NORMAL HOUSEHOLD GARBAGE
HOUSEHOLD APPLIANCES (stoves, dishwashers, washers, dryers, refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, water heaters and other items that use Freon).
HOUSEHOLD ELECTRONICS (televisions, stereos, computers, computer monitors and microwave ovens). AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS (antifreeze, 6 & 12 volt lead-acid batteries, any tires).
AUTOMOBILES, BOATS, LARGE-SCALE BUILDING/REMODELING DEBRIS PAINT, SOLVENTS, THINNERS, PRIMERS, VARNISHES, and STAINS POWER LAWN MOWERS; PROPANE TANKS AND GAS CANS WITH GAS IN THEM BIO-MEDICAL WASTE (sharps or anything contaminated by human blood) METAL ITEMS unless a part of a material that will be picked up.
What can you do with materials that WILL NOT be picked up?
NORMAL HOUSEHOLD GARBAGE Dispose of as normal, on your normal garbage pick-up day. HOUSEHOLD APPLIANCES, BOATS, METALS, AUTOMOBILES & AUTOMOTIVE BATTERIES: There may be a disposal charge for these items; they can be taken to Gerdau Ameristeel OR West End Hide, Fur & Metal Co.
HOUSEHOLD ELECTRONICS, FLUORESCENT OR MERCURY VAPOR LIGHT BULBS, BOATS, LARGE-SCALE BUILDING/REMODELING DEBRIS, METALS, PAINT, SOLVENTS, THINNERS, PRIMERS, VARNISHES & STAINS, AUTOMOTIVE TIRES and AUTOMOTIVE OIL may be taken to the City Baler Facility. There may be a disposal charge for some of the items listed above. Fluorescent or mercury light bulbs will be charged a disposal fee of $1.20 per bulb. Tire Disposal Fees: $3.50 – Auto or smaller tires, $7.00 – Truck tires, $15.00 – Tractor tires
ANTIFREEZE may be poured in your home toilet and flushed into the SANITARY SEWER SYSTEM. POWER LAWN MOWERS, PROPANE TANKS & GAS CANS WITH GAS IN THEM can be taken to Gerdau Ameristeel or West End Hide & Fur or call the City Baler for instructions.
BIO-MEDICAL WASTE Contact Central Valley Health, Jamestown Regional Medical Center or your local Clinic for instructions.
MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATION: During Clean-Up Week, the City Baler Facility at 3020 18th St. SE (701) 252-5223 will be open 8 am to 6 pm Monday through Friday, and 8 am to 12 Noon on Saturday. NEED SOME PAINT, etc. – Stop in and look through the REUSE area at the City Baler. If you find something you can use; you may take the material home at NO CHARGE.
Senior Citizens and Handicapped Persons needing assistance may call the Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce at 252-4830 during office hours.
The Recycling Center at the corner of 1st St and 3rd Ave SW will be open every afternoon from 12 noon until 6 p.m. during city-wide clean-up week AND Saturday 9 a.m. until 12 noon for your recyclable items. The Recycling Center accepts clothing, books, corrugated cardboard, newspapers and their contents, white office paper, magazines, junk mail, tin, three colors of glass, number 1 – 7 plastic and aluminum cans.
The Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce/City Beautification Committee Encourages Groups and Individuals To Help Clean Up Public Areas In Town You may pick up trash bags at the Chamber Office at 120 – 2nd St. S.E. Monday thru Friday, June 3 – 7, 2013 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Organize your group and do your part in cleaning up our town.
