Jimmies Skate Past Williston St. Fri.

Friday College Hockey…

Jamestown  7 Williston State 1

WILLISTON, N.D.  (uj.edu) — The 11th-ranked University of Jamestown hockey team extended its win streak to seven games with a 7-1 win Friday night over the Williston State College Tetons. The Jimmies’ offensive outburst was lead by Aidan Potas (FR/Fargo, N.D.), who tallied two goals on the night. With the two goals, Potas now has a team leading 18 goals on the season.

Tyler Chavez-Leech (JR/Red Deer, Alberta) opened the scoring on the power play in the first period after he jumped on a loose puck in front of the net and buried it. Garret Browning (SR/Winnipeg, Manitoba) also scored in the first frame, netting his first goal of the season.

Potas kicked off the scoring in the second period of play with a top-shelf wrist shot on the power play. Bryan Kromm (SR/Stockton, Calif.) also found the net on a redirection from a Jordan Popoff (FR/Calgary, Alberta) point shot. To close out the second, Jason Richter (SR/Cranbrook, British Columbia) scored off of a face-off play with an assist by Bryson Yee (SR/Calgary, Alberta).

The offence continued in the third period as Potas once again found the top corner off of a pass from Kromm. Michael Pruss (SR/Red Deer, Alberta) capped off the scoring in the game with help from Allan Pruss (SR/Red Deer, Alberta) and Dylan Haney (JR/Brandon, Manitoba).

Tyson Brouwer (SR/Lethbridge, Alberta) was solid once again between the posts allowing one goal.

Allan Pruss became the first player in program history to reach 100 points after getting on the scoresheet tonight.

With the win, the Jimmies are now 22-6 on the season. Both teams will face off again Saturday night at 7:00 PM in Williston.
