Friday
For just the second time in 2020, the University of Jamestown men’s hockey team found itself on the wrong end of the scoreboard Friday, losing 2-1 to the University of Mary at John L. Wilson Arena.
The Jimmies had their nine-game winning streak snapped, but will look to get back in the win column Saturday as UJ travels to Starion Sports Arena in Mandan to conclude the weekend home-and-home series.
UMary nettedĀ the game’s opening goal with one second left in the first period as Seth Cushing scored on the power play with assists by Logan Kraft and Kyler Moore.
At 17:42 of the second period, Jamestown tied the game on Vladislav Zamzhytski (JR/Minsk, Belarus)’s goal, assisted by Allan Pruss (SR/Red Deer, Alberta) and Cayle Bell (SR/Fort St. John, British Columbia).
The Marauders got the game-winner from Alex Flicek 45 seconds into the third period on an assist by Zach Garrett.
Jamestown had a 42-29 advantage in shots. UMary was 1-for-2 on the power play while UJ was 0-for-3.
Tyson Brouwer (SR/Lethbridge, Alberta) had 27 stops for the Jimmies and Kyle Hayden made 41 saves for the Marauders.
Tomorrow’s game will be televised on BEK Sports with a 7 p.m. puck drop.
