Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. Sports May 28, 2013) — Jamestown Jimmies basketball player Davon Thomas will not be back for his senior year, this fall.
There was a misunderstanding in Thomas’ semester eligibility, which expired after the first semester of the 2012-13 season.
With Thomas playing in the second half of the season, Jamestown College inadvertently committed a violation of NAIA rules.
Jamestown College will have to forfeit all eight of its wins in the second semester, including the two in the A.I.I. tournament which earned the Jimmies a trip to nationals.
Athletic Director Lawrie Paulson says Jamestown College reported the incident, adding “We’re complying with the ruling of the NAIA.”
No additional penalties will be levied. Thomas was the Jimmies second-leading scorer and leading rebounder last season.
