Valley City, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) — The Valley City Commission met in Regular Session Monday evening (Jun 17, 2013) at City Hall. All members were present.
Approval of Consent Agenda items included:
Renewal of Heating License for K & K Heating & Cooling, Inc.
Renewal of Alcohol License for Boomer’s Corner Keg and all Liquor Licenses received before July 1.
Approval of a Game of Change Raffle permit for American Legion Auxiliary Unit #60 and VC Town & Country Club Ladies Assn. and Barnes County Relay for Life 2013.
Public Forum: No one spoke
A Public Hearing was held regarding replatting of property in Gray’s Subdivision, Lots 1-5 to Lots 1-2, Block 1.
Ordinances
The City Commission approved a First Reading of an Ordinance approving replat of the Wagon Wheel Property.
New Business
The City Commission approved board positions for:
Renaissance Zone Board – Bobby Koepplin, Tony Kobbervig, Jim Knutson
Planning & Zoning Board – Mike Schell, John Froelich, Bill Carlblom
Zoning Board of Adjustments – Vacant (1)
VCBC Library Board – Kalyn Botz and Catherine Stillings.
Approved Gaming Site Authorization renewals for VFW at the VFW and at the NuBar, and Fraternal Order of Eagles at the Eagles Club, The Ram and The Labor Club.
The City Commission then approved a Retail Image Enhancement Grant for Brandon & Lindsey Culver in the amount of $5,000.
Commissioners approved a Retail Image Enhancement Grant for Bridges Bar & Grill in the amount of $5,000.
An Update and Approval of the URS contract/ work plan was granted, for the Sheyenne River erosion project within the city limits in the amount not to exceed $50,000. The city is awaiting word on approval of the funding.
Approved an Amendment to Engineer-Owner Agreement for Paving Improvement District No. 102 for additional engineering services in the amount of $7,000.00.
City Administrator Report
David Schelkoph reported that the city will meet with representatives of AMI and Cooper Power with a kickoff meeting on July 10, 2013, concerning the implementation of automated utility meters.
City Attorney Russell Myhre said recodification of the City Code is continuing, and the intent of the City Commission is needed during the process, as well as public input.
City Updates & Commission Comments
It was noted that the VCSU Foundation gave the city an award which helped the University to place the artificial turf at Lokken Field by a food and beverage tax grant.
Commissioner Pedersen said the city will attend this week’s State Water Commission meeting in Bismarck asking for engineering costs for the next phase of the city’s flood protection.
Mayor Werkhoven cautions residents with construction projects going on in the city to use caution around trucks and heavy equipment.
