Allan Gene Vanderberg, loving husband and father of three children, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 15, 2020 at the age of 85.Allan was born May 7, 1935 in Jamestown, ND to Northern Pacific Railroad worker Alex Garret and Mary Emma (Burdick) Vanderberg.  Allan was their first son.  He had four older sisters and he was the apple of their eyes.

Allan grew up and attended Jamestown Schools.  He loved hunting and exploring in the hills around his West End home.

In 1955, Allan married Lorraine E. Kreil and moved to Oregon where their daughter was born.  After a short time, they relocated to Long Beach, CA where they had two sons.

Allan was a great provider for his family of five.  He was hired by Long Beach City Transit after their move to California and went from bus washer to diesel mechanic to supervisor.  After retiring he moved to Smithville, MO for a few years and then moved back “home” to Jamestown.

Allan was a great entertainer telling jokes and stories, and sharing tricks with anyone who would listen.  He was always smiling and spreading cheer.  He loved “treasure hunting” at second hand stores and I am sure all the clerks knew him well.

Allan leaves behind his wife of 65 years, Lorraine (Kreil) Vanderberg; two sons Alex Vanderberg, Kansas City, MO, Shane (Suzan) Vanderberg, Brea, CA; one daughter Linda Vanderberg, Jamestown, ND; two grandsons Scott Cox and Derrick Cox; two granddaughters, Amy Jo Cox and Marie Keenan; four great grandchildren Christie Jo, Nash, Sapphire and Chance; one sister Beatrice Reynolds, LaCanada, CA and many nieces and nephews.

Allan was preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert Vanderberg and sisters Edith Iverson, Betty Johnstone and Joyce Vanderberg.

Due to the COVID Pandemic a Celebration of Life will be held in the spring.
