Explosion Destroys Sanborn Fireworks Display

Wimbledon, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Jun 28, 2013) — An explosion Thursday evening about 6-p.m. (Jun 27, 2013) destroyed a storage bunker containing the fireworks for the Sanborn Fire Department’s Fourth of July celebration.

No injuries were reported, and the estimate of destroyed fireworks was put at about $3,000.

No other structures were damaged, as the bunker was located a few hundred yards for a rural farm, southwest of Wimbledon.

The cause of the explosion remains under investigation.

The fire department is also considering its options for the Fourth of July display, according to Mike Griffin, member of the Sanborn Fire Department.
