RedcrosslogoValley City, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Jul 8, 2013) — Two Red Cross volunteers from Valley City, have been dispatched to assist with the response to wildfires in Arizona.

The Red Cross is operating three shelters in Arizona—in Kingman, Prescott and Wickenburg.

The Yarnell Fire where the 19 firefighter fatalities occurred, is only 25 miles from Wickenburg.

The shelters were established for individuals and families forced to evacuate because of wildfires.

Long-time volunteers, Paul and Barb Henke left Sunday for Arizona, and become the 4th and 5th volunteers from the ‘Dakotas Region’ to deploy.

The Henkes most recently, spent two weeks in New York assisting with Superstorm Sandy relief efforts.

In Arizona, they will be working in bulk distribution of supplies.
