Valley City, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) — At Monday’s (Jul 15, 2013) Valley City Commission meeting, Commissioner Madeline Luke went on record as saying she is not a reference to any contractor who may be performing flood damage repairs.

She said a contractor was apparently using her name as a reference.

Anyone with questions about a contractor’s viability should contact the Valley City Building Inspecotor Dave Anderson at City Hall.

The flash flood in Valley City the evening of June 20, 2013 caused significant damages to residential and commercial property.

At the meeting, Barnes County Emergency Manager Kim Franklin told Commissioners that while the city and Barnes County declared an emergency, there were not enough damage reports officially received to be eligible for FEMA funding.

She said at least 100 homes would have had to suffered major damage, or be destroyed.

206 varying damage reports were received, including five businesses. She added this may be a good time to review and update flood mitigation plans for Valley City.
