MARION, Iowa (UJ) — Izzy Marchino (SR/Highlands Ranch, Colo.) shot an 8-over 80, tied for first, and the University of Jamestown women’s golf team is in first place after the opening round of the Klocke Family Classic at the par-72, 5807-yard Hunters Ridge Golf Course.
Marchino is tied with Amanda Karvalla of Waldorf University at 8-over 80, one shot ahead of St. Ambrose’s Maitlyn Sanders.
UJ’s team score of 49-over 337 is one shot ahead of Mount Mercy and two shots ahead of St. Ambrose.
Jayme Carlson (JR/Hartford, S.D.) is tied for eighth at 12-over 84, followed by Faith Justesen (SO/Hawley, Minn.) at 13-over 85, which has her tied for 10th.
Kyra Vogel (FR/Jamestown, N.D.) is in 13th at 16-over 88, and Haley Malone (JR/Moorhead, Minn.) is tied for 14th at 17-over 89.
Teagan Fee (JR/Havre, Mont.) and Coley Olson (SO/Cook, Minn.), playing as individuals, are tied for 19th at 21-over 93.
The tournament concludes Sunday at 9 a.m.

MARION, Iowa (UJ) — The University of Jamestown men’s golf team is sixth out of 15 teams after Saturday’s first round of the Klocke Family Classic, which is being held at the par-72, 6527-yard Hunters Ridge Golf Course.
The Jimmies combined for a score of 22-over par 310, three shots behind Hawkeye Community College and Mount Mercy University; and five shots behind third-place St. Ambrose.
Max Noffsinger (FR/Ft. Collins, Colo.) turned in UJ’s top round on Saturday, finishing at 2-over 74, and is tied for eighth.
Gehrig Geiss (FR/Glen Ullin, N.D.), competing as an individual, is also tied for eighth at 2-over 74. Treyton Forsman (SR/Lewiston, Idaho), also playing as an individual, is tied for 17th at 4-over 76.
Tomas Garcia (FR/Vigo, Spain) is tied for 19th at 5-over 77, Tate Olson (SR/Cook, Minn.) is tied for 31st at 7-over 79, Benjamin Schaefer (SO/New Rockford, N.D.) is tied for 37th at 8-over 80, and Jackson Worner (JR/West Fargo, N.D.) is tied for 52nd at 10-over 82.
JD Pollard of Kirkwood CC shot a 6-under 66 to lead the field.
Sunday’s final round begins at 9 a.m.
