StutsCourthouseJamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Jul 22, 2013) — Southeast District Court Judge, Thomas Merrick has postponed a hearing for a Jamestown man, on an attempted murder charge, pending the availability of an interpreter, familiar with the Somali Language.

Ahmed Muse, is accused of using a large knife or machete in an attack on Abdirizak Nur that allegedly occurred in Jamestown on June 8, 2013.

Muse is also charged with aggravated assault in the same incident.

In court, Muse said he did not want an attorney represent him in the proceedings, and asked for an interpreter and that person not be a Somali.

Muse did not enter a plea during the proceedings but said he is innocence.

Muse remains in custody at the Stutsman County Correctional Center, with bond set at $100,000.

The attempted murder charge is a Class A felony while the aggravated assault charge is a Class C felony.

A Class A felony is punishable by up to 20 years in prison and $10,000 in fines. A Class C felony is punishable by five years in prison and $5,000 in fines.
