MINNEAPOLIS (AP Jul 24, 2013) – You might expect nothing less from Twins catcher Joe Mauer and his pregnant wife, Maddie – newborn twins.
 
     The ballclub says Emily and Maren Mauer arrived Wednesday morning after dad made it home to Minnesota for the births. Mauer was scratched from the Twins’ lineup Wednesday in Anaheim, Calif., so he could rush back for the debut of his twin girls.
 
     The  original due date for the twins was Aug. 31, but Mauer said recently that doctors told them the babies could arrive at any time.

Mauer has been placed on baseball’s paternity list. Catcher Drew Butera from Class AAA Rochester is set to replace him.
