Men
DICKINSON, N.D. (UJ) — Drew Hjelmstad (FR/Maple Grove, Minn.) placed seventh and helped lead the University of Jamestown men’s cross country team to a second-place finish at the Shane Grever Invite Friday afternoon.
Hjelmstad crossed the line in 28 minutes, 26 seconds and was one of five Jimmies to finish in the top 20.
Micah Hoke (FR/Jamestown, N.D.) finished 12th in 29:05, followed by Alex Walker (FR/Lakewood, Colo.) in 14th at 29:23, and Noah Mang (JR/West Chester, Ohio) in 16th at 29:38. Ethan Sherva (FR/Portland, N.D.) was 20th in 29:54.
Other Jimmie finishers included David Martin (JR/Wasco, Calif.) (21st, 30:09), Kadin Neppl (FR/Maddock, N.D.) (22nd, 30:17), Corbin Cornelius (FR/Wahpeton, N.D.) (29th, 32:59), and Jacob Juelfs (SR/Medina, N.D.) (33rd, 37:14).
Dickinson State University won the team title while Cole Jensen of the Blue Hawks placed first with a time of 26:44.
Next up for Jamestown is the Jimmie Invite on October 8.
Women
DICKINSON, N.D. (UJ) — Paige Erbstoesser (FR/West Fargo, N.D.) finished seventh, one of four University of Jamestown women’s cross country runners to finish in the top 15 Friday at the Shane Grever Invite.
Erbstoesser ran a time of 20:07, followed by Silje Kindseth (FR/Grand Forks, N.D.) (13th, 22:59), Elise Cummins (FR/Sparks, Nev.) (14th, 23:02), and Jennifer Tallackson (FR/Wheatland, N.D.) (15th, 23:17). All four runners were competing in their first collegiate 5K race.
Only two schools (Dickinson State and Trinity Bible College) ran with full teams in the 26-runner field. Grace Timm of DSU was the top finisher with a time of 18:48.
Next up for Jamestown is the Jimmie Invite on October 8.
