(UJ)    Eight different players scored Saturday afternoon as the University of Jamestown women’s soccer team defeated Doane (Neb.) University 8-2 at the Jimmie Turf Field.

The win improves the Jimmies’ record to 9-0 overall and 4-0 in the GPAC. UJ is at Northwestern (Iowa) College next Saturday.

Cassandra Diaz (JR/Montebello, Calif.) scored in the third minute on a pass from Kamryn Fiscus (JR/Yakima, Wash.) for the match’s first goal. Claire Struble (SR/Murrieta, Calif.) made it 2-0 with a goal in the 16th minute.

Doane cut Jamestown’s lead in half in the 22nd minute as Michaela Thompson made it 2-1. The Jimmies regained a two-goal lead as Fiscus made it 3-1 in the 42nd minute.

Lexi Torok scored for the Tigers on a pass from Gisselle Martinez as the visitors once again made it a one-goal game. Jamestown then went on a scoring spree, netting five unanswered goals.

Penelope Hoppe (SR/Temecula, Calif.), Yoselin Ramirez (FR/Anaheim, Calif.), Iliana Ramirez (FR/Marysville, Wash.), Bridget VanDancker (SO/Maplewood, Minn.), and Kennedy Johnson (FR/Bismarck, N.D.) all found the back of the net as the Jimmies ended with eight goals for the first time since an 8-0 win over Presentation (S.D.) College on March 17.

Alex Nowka (JR/Anchorage, Alaska) played the first 69 minutes in goal before giving way to Aida Roldan (FR/San Adrian, Spain). Roldan made three saves in her Jimmie debut.

Jamestown  (UJ) The University of Jamestown men’s soccer team went to a 1-1 double-overtime draw with Doane (Neb.) University Saturday afternoon at the Jimmie Turf Field.

It was the fourth double-overtime match for UJ out of eight this season, as the Jimmies are now 3-3-2 overall and 2-1-1 in the GPAC.

Doane took the lead in the 12th minute on a goal by Markus Pieper.

Aaron Pike (SR/Milton Keynes, England) and Remy Weibel (FR/Switzerland) helped set up Diego Valle (SR/Yucaipa, Calif.) in the 33rd minute, as Valle drew the Jimmies level. Despite outshooting Doane 8-2 in the first half, the score remained tied at the half.

Jamestown turned on the offensive pressure in the second half, getting off 12 shots to just one for the Tigers. However, Doane goalkeeper Andres Fallas saved all five shots he faced on target and the score remained at 1-1 at the end of regulation.

David Frickel (SR/Monticello, Minn.) and Eric Fairtlough (SR/Varese, Italy) put shots on target in the second overtime but Fallas was up to the task and the match ended in a draw.
