Valley City, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Jul 30, 2013) Valley City Police say a 24-year-old man reported to police that two pit bulls approached him and a woman at a campfire.
Fearing the dogs were going to attack, he grabbed a handgun from the woman and fired several rounds at the dogs.
Officers quickly arrived and saw two pit bulls leaving the scene, but could not catch them.
Police Chief Fred Thompson says 24-year-old Nathan Preston called police to say he fired a number of rounds at the approaching dogs. Thompson says no humans, houses or other property were struck by the discharged rounds.
No report of any dogs being struck by bullets in this incident. Thompson says the investigation of this shooting continues and once completed the facts will be submitted to the State’s Attorney’s Office to determine if any charges will be filed.
