Jamestown  (CSi)   – Jamestown Public Schools is currently assessing enrollment to determine the appropriate number of sections of Kindergarten.

JPS has had 8 sections of Kindergarten in elementary grades, 2 at Gussner, 2 at Lincoln, 1 at Louis L’Amour, 2 at Roosevelt, and 1 at Washington. Based on registrations at this time, the number is significantly lower than average.

A recent resignation of a Kindergarten position has reduced the sections to 7 and Superintendent  Dr. Robert Lech says is’s not anticipatedhiring that position for the upcoming school year at this time.

Factors include for low enrollment include other options that exist for families such as private education, tuition agreements and a decreasing number of school-aged children in the community.

The conversations will continue as enrollment is assessed.

Parents who wish to enroll their child can contact the Jamestown Central Office at 701-252-1950.
