Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown City Council’s Police and Fire Committee unanimously recommends approval of an agreement with Jamestown Public School District to fund a second school resource officer. Police Chief Scott Edinger says the plan is to have one school resource officer for all of the elementary schools in the district. Another would be for the middle and high schools and the James Valley Career & Technology Center. He says the addition of a patrol car would have to be worked out as part of a contract.

During Thursday’s meeting, it was noted that the new school resource officer would be funded with a 75-25 school district-city of Jamestown share for wages, benefits, training, uniform, equipment and a vehicle. The city attorney will draft an agreement between the two entities.
