Violet Schopp, 81, Streeter, ND died Thursday, July 21, 2022 at the Avera McKenan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.

Violet Riedlinger was born October 31, 1940 at Hebron, ND, the daughter of John and Emelia (Martin) Riedlinger. She grew up on the farm north of Hebron until 8th grade and then moved to Hazen.  She was also a waitress in Hazen for 8 years.

She and Robert L. Poppe were married September 4, 1964 at the English Lutheran Church in Hazen, ND. They made their home in Hazen, Tappen, Streeter and finally Gackle, ND in 1975 where she worked as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant at the Gackle Care Center. 

Violet and Lloyd Schopp were married July 16, 1994 at the UCC Church in Gackle, ND. They made their home in Streeter, ND, she continued to work at the Gackle Care Center, Napoleon Care Center and then the Wishek Nursing Home until retiring in 2003.

She was a member of the UCC Church in Gackle and the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary.  She loved going to Farmer’s markets, her cats, going to the grocery store and out to eat. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her grandson and great grandson.

Violet is survived by her husband Lloyd, Streeter, ND; 1 daughter, Tammy (George) Koenig, Gackle, ND; 1 grandson, Cory (Nicky) Koenig, Edgeley, ND: 1 great grandson, Matthew; 2 step daughters, Candice Paczkowski and Colleen (Dwight) Fercho, both of Fargo, ND; 4 step grandchildren, Jared Fercho, Anthony Fercho, Rick Paczkowski and Rhonda Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 sisters, Arlene Pfenning and Marilyn Helm; and 1 niece, Sheila Pfenning Boehm.

Funeral Service – 11:00 AM Friday, July 29, 2022 at the Haut Funeral Home in Jamestown, ND

Visitation – 4-7pm Thursday at the funeral home in Jamestown.

Burial – Gackle Cemetery, Gackle, ND
