Jamestown (CSi) At Wednesday’s Special Meeting of Jamestown Tourism, at the JSDC / Chamber meeting, Jamestown Tourism Executive Director Searle Swedlund announced that he has submitted his resignation effective September 9. The board discussed and approved the job position and appointed a search committee. He is open to contractual work while tourism transitions into its new leadership.

He has been the executive director since 2013.

His resignation stated, “When I arrived in Jamestown, it was the giants of this community that showed me great hospitality and welcomed me into its ranks. Over these past 10 years, I’ve witnessed time and again how this place works together to create new opportunities for visitors and I’ll miss not being part of that process.”

He said he is thankful to those who supported him in the community. He said leaving the position and Jamestown is not an easy decision. We are going to miss Jamestown a lot.

I want to thank all involved with Jamestown and tourism for the trust and confidence they provided. It has been an honor to serve in this role.”

Swedlund said he will work for economic development at the Upper Minnesota Valley Regional Development Commission, in Morris, Minnesota.
