Undated (KCSi-T.V. News Sept2. 2013) — The North Dakota Highway Patrol has identified a 67 year old Cooperstown Woman who died in a car train collision as Judy Rahlf.
The report says on Sunday September 1, 2013 at about 6:35 p.m., she was operating her car eastbound on a gravel township road 1 mile southeast of Page North Dakota, when she attempted to cross railroad tracks at approximately 15 miles per hour when the car was struck by a southeast bound BNSF train pulling 73 cars at 52 miles per hour.
The train’s horn and emergency brakes were activated on the train and cars prior to the crash. The train was unable to stop and struck the left side of the vehicle. The train and car slid for approximately 1/3 of a mile before coming to rest on the railroad tracks.
Rahlf was air lifted to Sanford Medical Center in Fargo where she died.
The crash remains under investigation.
Assisting at the scene were the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, Page Ambulance, Page Fire Department, Buffalo Rescue, and Sanford Life Flight
