FARGO, N.D. (AP Sept 3, 2013) – North Dakota State remains atop both Football Championship Subdivision polls after its upset of Football Bowl Subdivision member Kansas State.
The two-time defending FCS champion Bison beat the Wildcats 24-21 on Friday night. NDSU got all of the first-place votes in this week’s coaches’ poll and nearly all of them in the Sports Network poll.
South Dakota State is sixth in the Sports Network poll and seventh in the coaches’ poll. The University of South Dakota got votes in both polls but didn’t crack the top 25 in either.
Eastern Washington is second in both polls and Montana State is third.
FARGO, N.D. (AP) – North Dakota State University head football coach Craig Bohl says the national media attention he’s gotten since the Bison beat Kansas State on Friday night is the most he’s dealt with in his 11 years at the Fargo school.
Kansas State plays in the Football Bowl Subdivision, and NDSU in the lower-tier Football Championship Subdivision. NDSU upset the Wildcats 24-21 with a frantic fourth-quarter rally.
Bohl was a guest on eight regional or national radio shows over the weekend. He calls it a “signature win” for the Bison program – but he also says the two-time defending FCS champions need to move forward and concentrate on their next opponent.
NDSU’s home opener is Saturday against Ferris State, which plays in NCAA Division II.
