Janice Marie Rasmusson was born July 20, 1946, in Valley City, ND to Roy and Mary (Gill) Rasmusson. She grew up in the Sanborn, ND area and graduated with the Sanborn High School class of 1964. She was working as a cook at the bowling alley in Sanborn when she met John Piatz. They were married November 20, 1965, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
She worked at Land O’ Lakes and Valley Grocery Retail for a time, but her favorite “job” was being a wife, mother, grandmother. Her home was always decked out for the season. The 4th of July was one of her favorites to celebrate. Janice was known to have an immaculate yard and spent hours in her flower gardens. She put on countless miles on her lawnmower around the town of Sanborn helping the neighbors with their yards and making the town more beautiful. She was a gracious hostess and was more than willing to lend a hand.
Janice was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and helped with the upkeep of the church and rectory. She and John were also caretakers at the Sacred Heart Cemetery (more miles on the mower). Janice was a member of homemakers, the park board, and served as president of the Sanborn School Reunion Committee.
She is survived by her husband, John; sons, Paul (Marlo) and Eric; grandchildren, Jacob, Spencer, Thressa (Jonah) Wolla, and Dalton; brothers, Kenneth (Diane) and Richard; and a sister, Loretta Lettenmaier.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Dallas; daughter-in-law, Margaret; and an infant sister.
