Rhonda was born June 4, 1957, in Jamestown, ND to Ron and Jan (Johnston) Fietzek. She attended and graduated from Montpelier High School in 1975. Rhonda attended LPN nursing school in Wahpeton and later attended and graduated from UND with an associate degree in arts with a major in flight attending. She worked at the North Dakota State Hospital, Central Dakota Village, Hi-Acres Manor and was a manager for Mesaba at the Jamestown Airport and a contract nurse in Minnesota. In 1981 she welcomed daughter Jessica Rose. And in 1989 she welcomed her son, Logan Joseph. Rhonda was passionate about climate and geography and always made sure to alert family and friends if inclement weather was coming. She later went back to school and earned her bachelor’s degree in climatology/geography at UND in 2010. While in graduate school at UND, she was a teacher’s assistant. She enjoyed teaching and the students. She later moved back to Jamestown.

Rhonda was very creative and enjoyed baking, experimenting with new recipes. She was well known for her cheesecakes and homemade gingerbread houses. She was an avid crafter and crochetier. Crocheting beautiful blankets for family and friends. Rhonda canned a variety of foods including the highly sought-after sauerkraut, pickles, and salsa. She also enjoyed watching her grandson, Gavin, play soccer and ride his jet ski. Rhonda enjoyed telling friends and family stories from the past and her childhood, growing up on the farm. Anyone that knew Rhonda, knew how much she loved the color pink and roses.

Rhonda is preceded in death by her parents, Ron & Jan Fietzek; brother, Jeff Fietzek

Rhonda is survived by her daughter, Jess (Ryan) Skjeret, Jamestown, ND; a son, Logan Barnett, Minneapolis, MN; a grandson, Gavin Skjeret, Jamestown, ND; a sister, Brenda (Tom) Hudinsky, Rockford, MN.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, January 7, 2023 at Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown, ND with Pastor Stephanie Gossett officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Interment will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens in the spring.

Rhonda Jan (Fietzek) DeVries, Jamestown, ND passed away at Ave Maria Village while under the care of JRMC Hospice December 21, 2022.
