Kenneth LeRoy Anderson was born on June 29, 1948 to Ora and Mary Anderson of Ypsilanti, ND. He passed away unexpectedly on April 21, 2023.
Ken began his education at Winfield Township School before attending Ypsilanti School and Montpelier High School. After his 1966 high school graduation, he attended NDSU and studied agriculture before joining his father to work on the family farm that was homesteaded in 1907.
He married Judy Fettig on November 6, 1971. They shared their life on the farm where they raised their family of five children.
Ken lived a life of service, dedicated to his family, his church, and his community. He enjoyed many years of hunting, fishing, board games, and playing cards. Pinocle was his favorite. He loved spending time with his kids and grandkids and sharing these passions with them. He was an altar boy at the Ypsilanti Catholic Church and was a dedicated member of St. James Basilica for the last several decades of his life, where he taught CCD classes and was a eucharistic minister. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. Ken was involved in 4H and livestock judging when his children were members, and he enjoyed helping his grandchildren raise their 4H livestock. He was the current president of the Stutsman County Wildlife Club in which he organized the youth pheasant hunts for many years. He was also the current treasurer of Winfield Township. Besides working on the family farm and raising cattle, Ken worked for Kamlitz House Movers, and spent the last many years of his life as a rural mail carrier for the US Postal Service.
He is survived by his wife, Judy, daughters Shannon Moran and Tina (Sheldon) Schlenker, sons Christopher (Jessie) Anderson, Matthew Anderson (LaReina), and Patrick Anderson, grandchildren Alex (Lauren), Dylan (Sam), Tyler (Lorie), Tracy, Kendal, Pierce, Danica, Tyra (Mike), and Bryce, and great granddaughter Raelynn, his brother Don (Marty) and sister Joann.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Dorothy, and brothers in law, Al and George.
Visitation – 9-7:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home in Jamestown.
Vigil Service – 7:00 PM Thursday April 27 at the funeral home with a Rosary at 6:30.
Mass of Christian Burial- 4:00 PM Friday April 28, 2023 at the Basilica of St. James in Jamestown
Spring Interment – Calvary Cemetery, Jamestown, ND
