Shannon Brandt of Glenfield, N.D. is charged in the death of 18-year-old Cayler Ellingson. Today Wahpeton Judge Bradley Cruff  had the charges reduced from Class AA Felony Murder charges to a Class B Felony, a manslaughter charge. This would change the charges against Brandt from life in prison to no more than 10 years in jail, for the charge of Brandt running over Ellingson in September 2022 in McHenry, ND.

The 42-year-old Shannon Brandt spoke with Ellingson after a street dance in McHenry, ND. and believed Ellingson was a republican Extremist and feared for his safely. Court documents show Brandt was afraid a group would come after him. The judge kept the murder charge but on Monday morning, reduced the bail from one million to $500,000.
