It is with great sadness that Bishop Folda and the Diocese of Fargo announces the death of Reverend Scott Sautner. Father Sautner passed away on Monday, June 5, 2023 after suffering a massive stroke over the weekend. He was 49.
Father Scott was born February 27, 1974 in Harvey, ND to Harlin and Marlys (Smith) Sautner. He grew up in Harvey before moving to Fargo to attend and graduate from Cardinal Muench Seminary. He then attended Kenrick-Glennon Seminary in St. Louis and graduated with a degree in Theology in 2000. He was ordained a Priest in May 2000 at the Cathedral of St. Mary, Fargo followed by his first call in Jamestown, ND for two years. He was then assigned to Lakota, ND followed by Hankinson, ND, and lastly, Lisbon and Gwinner, ND. Father was also an organ donor, and his generosity will mean life for those in need.
Father Sautner’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held this Friday at 2 p.m. at the Cathedral of St. Mary in Fargo. The Mass will be live streamed by Boulger Funeral Home. Rest in peace, good and faithful servant.
