Lorrayne Virginia Vogt, 97, of Jamestown, North Dakota passed peacefully at Ave Maria on Sunday evening, the tenth of September, 2023.
Lorrayne was born on December 11, 1925 to Charles and Etta Wall in Duluth, Minnesota. She attended Denfield High School in Duluth.
Lorrayne met Lawrence Vogt in Duluth and they married and had their first child, Cynthia Jean Berger. Not long after they moved to Jamestown and settled in. They had two more children, daughters Barbara Ann Vogt and Patricia Lee Christianson. While Lawrence worked as a traveling salesmen, Lorrayne held several positions including working at JC Penneys, the Jamestown Water Department, the Stutsman County Sheriff’s office, and then retiring with the North Dakota Department of Motor Vehicles Licensing Bureau.
Lorrayne enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, Adam and Bridget Berger, walking, needlepoint, playing bingo, painting, and her family. She was an avid reader and also enjoyed gardening and doing any kind of work outdoors.
Lorrayne was predeceased by six brothers: Clarence, George, Gordon, Clovis, Richard, and Reuben Wall, all of Duluth, Minnesota. She was also predeceased by two sisters: Marie Privette of Duluth and Mlldred Dzurko of La Crosse, WI; in-laws Howard and Gloria (Vogt) Bjorklund, and Tom and Bev Vogt, brother-in-law, Dick Baker of Lakewood, CO; both parents; and her eldest daughter, Cindy Berger of Valley City, North Dakota.
She is survived by two daughters, Barb and Patty, and son-in-law, George Berger. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Adam (Heather) and Bridget Berger of Fargo, Haley (Zach) and Nolan (McKenzie) Golz of Duluth and Helena, Montana, respectively, and Carlie (Kahler) Grandbouche of Parker, Colorado. She is also survived by four beautiful great grandchildren, Addison and Emery Grandbouche of Parker, and Sawyer and Tatum Golz of Helena and one dearly loved sister-in-law, Marilyn (Vogt) Baker of Lakewood, Colorado. Last but not least she is survived by her wonderful nieces and nephews and their children: Brian and Kathy Hovey of Urbandale, Iowa, Jeff and Kerryjo Huguelet of Fargo, Jim and Pat Bjorklund of Moorhead, MN, Marie Bonneville of Cloquet, MN., Penny, Tommy, Lori, Shari of the Thomas Vogt family and Alan, Chris, Dede, and Brad of the Baker family.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the family’s home. Donations in honor of Lorrayne can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and/or SMP Health Ave Marie Heritage Centre of Jamestown, ND.
