Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News) — The Jamestown Public School Board Tuesday (Sept 17, 2013) voted in favor of Jamestown Public Schools providing Talented and Gifted Program services to St. John’s Academy.
In the 7-2 vote, board members Roy Musland and Gail Martin opposed the partnership.
The one-year pilot program,has Jamestown Public Schools providing TAG to St. John’s for the remainder of this school year at no cost.
Providing TAG to St. John’s will not bring extra costs to JPS.
Jamestown Public Schools Superintendent, Robert Lech said, if the pilot program is successful there would be a discussion of shared cost for the program.
It was reported that the school district is reducing the mill rate by 50 mills, reducing the rate from 155.4 mills to about 105 mills.
For the 2013 tax year, a $100,000 home in Jamestown would have paid about $1,937.
The 2014 tax statements for a $100,000 home, commonly mailed out in December, would show a total property tax of about $1,500. The meeting was recorded by the CSi REPLAY CHANNEL 10, with the showing starting later Wednesday.
