Elvin Henry Luck passed away peacefully Friday, October 27, 2023, at St. Rose Care Center, Lamoure, ND after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

Elvin was born May 28th, 1934, to Albert and Margaret Luck. He grew up in the Dickey and Adrian area where he attended both schools. On December 12, 1958, he married Evangeline Schrenk in Jamestown, ND. Elvin and Vangie lived in Dickey, and South of Windsor until they moved and made their home in Adrian in 1962. They raised 3 children, Teresa, Lee, and James in Adrian.

Elvin worked as a heavy equipment operator and helped build I-94 from ND into Montana. He also worked as a maintainer operator, truck driver and was one of the best loader operators out at the gravel pits for Lindberg Brothers south of Spiritwood.

Elvin enjoyed his large selection of Allis Chalmers Garden tractors, being outside and tilling gardens. He tilled gardens for just about everyone he knew in a 25-mile radius. He even had an Allis Chalmers 75th Special Edition lawn tractor. Elvin always had spare parts and could fix any Chalmers that came his way. Including, passing his love for Chalmers onto his kids and grandkids.

Elvin was always cracking jokes and teasing his kids, grandkids and just about anyone who was in his presence. His classic line around a family feast was to hold up the large, mashed potato serving spoon and say “Hey, I think this one’s yours, for your big mouth.” He always thought he was the funny guy, which he usually was.

Elvin is survived by his wife of 64 years, Evangeline. Children, Lee (Carla) Ypsilanti, ND, James (Joline) Adrian, ND. Grandchildren Kaylee (Michael) Falowa, Fargo, Morgan (Ben) Luck, Vero Beach, FL, Tori Luck (Matt). Fargo, Evan Johnson Ft. Worth TX, Hayden Luck Adrian, Ethan Luck, Adrian, and Colten Luck Adrian. Seven Great Grandchildren, Zane Hoey, Brody Enninful, Lily, Mikey, IsaBella, Isaiah & Daniel Falowa. Brother Marvin (Joan) Luck Ramsey MN.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, daughter Teresa, grandson Wyatt, 10 brothers and sisters.
