Library 3Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Sept 18, 2013) — The James River Valley Library System Library Board is reviewing establishing a joint powers agreement with the Jamestown City Council and Stutsman County Commission.

If accomplished a petition process would not be required.

The public would still vote on whether to approve a county-wide quarter-cent sales tax that would pay for the new library.

If not approved by the city and county, the petition process could still potentially put the issue on a ballot for a public vote.

The library board voted to hire a financial adviser for $20,000 to $30,000 to helpĀ  with a U.S. Department of Agriculture loan application, of about $6.5 million to $7.5 million, which would be used to pay for a new library, and would be paid back with the quarter-cent sales tax.
