Fremont, Neb.—The 12th-ranked Jimmie women’s hockey team entered the third period tied 1-1 against No. 1 Liberty University, but two third-period goals by the Flames led them to a 3-1 victory Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Flames scored just 22 seconds into the game as Rianna Spanier took a pass from Elisabeth Sarauer and put the puck into the net for her third goal of the season.
  • Bethany Wielgosh tied the game for Jamestown with an unassisted goal at the 3:40 mark of the first period, and the score remained 1-1 after one.
  • Both teams were held off the scoreboard in the second period, with Liberty outshooting UJ 19-7 and 38-10 through the first 40 minutes.
  • Zosia Adamek (4:28) and Brityn Fussy (19:49) tallied goals for Liberty in the third.
  • Lilah Drew made 21 of her 58 saves in period three, beating her previous career-best of 44 saves back on January 15, 2023.
