Ronald Berg, 88, of Jamestown, ND, passed away early Tuesday morning, December 26, 2023 at Eventide, Jamestown.

Ronald H. Berg was born July 16, 1935, in Valley City, ND, the son of Ole and Cecelia (Hass) Berg.  He grew up on the family farm near Eckelson, ND and attended school.  The family moved to Jamestown in 1943 and Ron continued his education, delivered newspapers and set bowling pins in his youth.  He entered the US Army Reserves, and then US Navy on July 18, 1952 – a day after his 17th birthday.  Ron was honorably discharged at Corpus Christi, TX on July 13, 1956 and then began working for the railroad.  Ronald married Irene Schwartz on June 22, 1961 and to this union was born one daughter, Alayne Ronee.  After his retirement, he worked for Alpha Opportunities.  Ron married Evelyn in 2007 and they have lived in Jamestown since.

Ron is survived by his wife, Evelyn of Jamestown; his daughter, Alayne (Tim) Iwen of Arthur, ND; two grandchildren, Koty (Matt) Kliever of Abbotsford, BC and Tyler Iwen of Arthur, ND; three great-grandchildren, Ellie, David, and Joseph Kliever; son, Dennis Stampka of Great Falls, MT; grandson, Brody Freeburg and his three children of Great Falls, MT; and sister, Barb Hanson of Jamestown.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Don, Jim, and John Berg; and sisters, Beverly Hanson, Judy Perry, and Betty Kratzke.

Mass of Christian Burial – 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at St. James Basilica, Jamestown, with the Very Reverend C.F. Wilhelm, celebrant.
