Darlene Weixel, 74, Montpelier, ND died Peacefully at her home Sunday December 31, 2023.
Darlene was born June 15, 1949 in Breckenridge, MN, the daughter of Alvin and Marion (Carrow) Wilke. She grew up in several west central MN small town areas.
She attended school until the 10th grade and helped her mom and siblings after their father’s death. She worked at the Root Beer Barrel and at a car hop where she met the love of her life.
Darlene and Alan Weixel were married September 11, 1966 in West Fargo, ND. They had their first-born daughter Cheri in Moorhead. They then moved to Wenatchee, WA, then moved to the farmstead in Montpelier where they then had the middle daughter, Tina and youngest daughter, Sue in Jamestown.
Darlene had various jobs throughout her life. She started out in health care and laundry, worked management at God Father’s Pizza, later in life she went back to health care and housekeeping until a massive heart attack in 2005.
She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, she enjoyed family gatherings, gardening, crossword puzzles and spending time with her husband.
Darlene is survived by her husband Alan, Montpelier, ND; 3 daughters, Cheri (Shannon) Scholz, Montpelier, ND; Tina (Thomas) Alderman, Fargo, ND; Sue (Jason) Krueger, Moorhead, MN; 9 grandchildren, Cruise (Steph Dame), Amanda (Theodore), Tiffany (Nicholas), Trace, Taryn, Trevor, Sarah, Tyler and Blake; 20 great grandchildren; and 1 brother, Paul Wilke, Fargo, ND.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 sisters, Virginia Carlson, Jackie Saeland, Terri Jo Wilke, and 1 half-brother, Bruce Rand.

Memorial Service – 10:00 AM Monday January 8, 2024 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Jamestown, ND
Burial – Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, ND (at a later date)
