Delbert Enoch Nitschke, 75, Jamestown, ND passed away at his home Wednesday, January 3, 2024.
Delbert was born September 11, 1948 in Ashley, ND the son of Enoch and Sophie (Quaschnick) Nitschke. He grew up and worked on the family farm marrying Linda Lindemann October 20, 1974. Here they raised two daughters Jennifer and Carrie staying on the farm until 1992. After leaving the farm Delbert worked for various farms in MN and ND before settling down in Jamestown, ND working for Cavendish Farms for over 20 years before retiring in 2019.
Delbert loved his family with his whole heart, always cherishing the time he spent with them, and often talking about the love of Jesus. He is well known for his sarcastic sense of humor and bringing smiles to all of those around him. His retirement was filled with his daily walks of exercise, playing checkers with family and friends, visiting with his circle of friends at the Depot, and most importantly being a witness to Christ to all those he encountered. Delbert was deeply rooted in his faith and wanted others to experience the joys of knowing Christ.
Delbert is survived by his ex-wife, Linda Nitschke, Alexandria, MN; daughter, Jennifer (Sam) Degroot, Jamestown, ND; daughter, Carrie (Kade) Nice, Valley City, ND; granddaughter, Tamika (Tyler) Silva, Fargo, ND; grandsons, Kaden & Derek Degroot, Jamestown, ND; numerous nieces & nephews; special pet cat, Tom.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Enoch & Sophie Nitschke; sister, Erma Hoff; brother, Ernie Nitschke; cousins, aunts, and uncles.
Visitation will be 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM with prayer service following at 7:00 PM, Monday, January 8, 2024 at Haut Funeral Home in Jamestown, ND.
Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, January 9 at Victory Lutheran Church, Jamestown, ND with Pastor Shawn Bowman, Pastor Jon Ronnevik, and Pastor Greg Allen.
Burial will be at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Ashley, ND after a lunch at the church.
