Tower City, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Sept 21, 2013) – Authorities are investigating a car-train accident that occurred about 7-p.m Saturday, northeast of Tower City, on a gravel road.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol reoprts, an SUV operated by 54 year old Dawn Flaig, of Leonard, was traveling North on 134th Ave SE. Flaig started to cross the railroad tracks that cross 134th Ave SE when she was struck by a west bound Burlington Northern train.
Flaig the lone occupant of the truck, was transported by Life Flight to Essentia Health in Fargo. Flaig’s vehicle was totaled in the crash, the train suffered minor damage. Nobody on the train was injured. The crash location is 1/2 mile East and 3/4 mile North of Tower City ND on 134th Ave SE.
Reports say there were no cross arms at the railroad crossing.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Assisting the NDHP was the Casselton Ambulance, along with the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.
