BNN – Arkansas Newspaper Foundation Board Member & former Professor at University of Jamestown, Steve Listopad was involved in a serious single-car crash in Arkansas on February 24 that resulted in the amputation of both legs below the knee.

Listopad underwent successful surgery, and his condition was reported as critical but stable. Community-driven initiatives such as CaringBridge, GoFundMe, and Meal Train pages have been set up to assist the Listopad family during this challenging time. Remarkably, the GoFundMe page has already raised over $17,000 to help cover medical expenses.

Steve Listopad was an assistant professor in communications at the University of Jamestown, and later at Valley City State University, Listopad’s is an advocacy for the John Wall New Voices Act, a landmark piece of legislation in North Dakota that enshrines the press freedom of public school and university student journalists and their advisers.
