WILLISTON, N.D. (KFGO) – The Williston Fire Department and the Williams County Hazardous Materials Response team responded to a semi-trailer rollover crash near Alexander in McKenzie County Monday night.

Williston Assistant Fire Chief Corey Johnson says the trailer involved in the crash was carrying condensate, a hazardous material similar to gasoline. It was damaged and leaking at a rate of about 5 gallons a minute.

First responders were able to plug the leak on the tanker and HazMat units remained on the scene while recovery crews offloaded the remaining product into another vessel before the damaged vehicle was removed.

The semi and trailer were traveling on a county road on an s-curve when it rolled and went off the roadway.

The semi-driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the Willison hospital for treatment.
