JAMESTOWN, N.D. – The University of Jamestown Athletics Department is excited to announce construction plans for a state-of-the-art indoor practice facility dedicated to its men’s and women’s golf programs. Located within the Larson Center, the Worner Family Golf Center will be a cornerstone for the teams as they transition to the NSIC conference.

The golf center will provide the teams with four hitting bays, a team study room, lounge area, regripping station, locker rooms, coach’s office, and a nearly 2,000-square-foot putting complex. The facility is designed to support the Jimmie golf team’s pursuit of excellence both on and off the course.

Vice President of Student Affairs and interim golf coach, Dustin Jensen, shared his enthusiasm for the project, highlighting the impact it will have on the program’s competitive edge and academic success. “Three months ago, we were thrilled to learn of a generous $250,000 donation from Tammy and Leo Worner, aimed at revamping our golf practice facilities.,” Jensen remarked.

he Worner’s two children, Jackson and Tori Worner, currently attend UJ and are student athletes in the golf program. Their donation stemmed from an appreciation for the University’s role in Jackson’s development.

“The University of Jamestown took a chance on our son with a conditional enrollment. Today, he stands as a testament to UJ’s commitment to nurturing students’ growth, preparing them to excel in life. He graduates with Honors in May. Our contribution is a gesture of gratitude towards this culture,” the Worner family stated.

Jackson Worner, a senior majoring in Business Administration with a minor in Communication, expressed his gratitude towards the University: “My time here has been incredible. I owe so much to my professors, coaches, and the supportive community at UJ.”

Jensen referred to the family’s gift as “rare and deeply appreciated.” UJ President Dr Polly Peterson agreed, saying, “This gift for our golf program sets a new precedent. We are thankful for the Worner family’s support and the legacy they are helping to build.”

Construction for the new indoor practice facility will begin in the summer of 2024 with projected completion in the fall.
