Historic Franklin School in downtown Jamestown lost a stately elm tree to dutch-elm disease Wednesday September 25, 2013. One can only imagine the number of students that enjoyed the shade it provided to the front of the school over the years.
Jamestown City Forester, Doug Wiles, had spotted the disease during inspection of trees along 2nd St SW, after a diseased tree was removed a block east at Wells Fargo.
A1 Tree Service of Jamestown took advantage of 2nd Street SW being closed this week for sewer project work, to remove the tree without disrupting traffic.
