On Monday, May 27, 2024, Robert Wayne McGough died peacefully with his family by his side. Bob was born to Edward (Charles) and Delores (Dori) McGough on July 9, 1953, in Moorhead, MN. He graduated from Valley City Senior High School in 1972. On November 25 of that same year, he married the love of his life, Mary Didier in Sanborn, ND. Over the course of the next four decades Bob served his nation in various capacities, including 21 years of active-duty service in the U.S. Army and 15 years in the government service sector as Chief, Information Security Officer.
Bob enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren who were the highlight of his life. He had a very strong faith in the Lord and enjoyed volunteering in different churches they belonged to throughout their life. Bob was strongly loved by everyone he encountered.
Bob is survived by his two sons; Rob (Pam); Ryan (Kelley); 6 grandchildren, Caden, Bridger, Lilly, Violet, Rowen, and Iyla. He also leaves behind 4 brothers: Pat, Daniel (Leah), Randy and John; along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary, his parents Charles and Delores, and 2 bothers Edward and Thomas McGough.
The family would like to recognize the amazing nursing staff at The Legacy Place, Red River Hospice for all the care, comfort and love they showed Bob as well as Deacon McAllister.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Catherine Catholic Church, Valley City, ND at 11:00 AM, Friday, May 31. Visitation will be at the church on Friday from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM. The Rosary will be prayed beginning at 10:30 with Mass following at 11:00. Burial with military honors will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Sanborn (after a time of fellowship following the Mass in Valley City). Bob’s family suggests donations to Sacred Heart Cemetery; P.O. Box 162, Sanborn, ND 58480 in lieu of flowers.
