Jamestown, ND – On June 17, 2024, at 7 12am, Jamestown Police responded to a report of a 2007 Chevy Silverado pickup that had been stolen overnight. The pickup was stolen from the 900 block of 2 Ave NE and the key had been left inside the vehicle.

At approximately 8:03 am, a Sheriff’s Deputy with the Stutsman County Drug Task Force located two suspicious vehicles in the southwest part of Jamestown. The vehicles appeared to be associated with one another. The deputy located one of the suspicious vehicles and identified it as the stolen pickup from Jamestown. The stolen pickup stopped in the 200 block of 17 Ave SW and was occupied by 2 male juveniles. The other suspicious vehicle fled from the deputy. Jamestown Police Officers responded and assisted in taking 2 male juveniles into custody out of the stolen pickup.

At approximately 8:05 am, Jamestown Police Officers located the 2nd suspicious vehicle near the 1100 block of 18 St SW. The 2nd vehicle was identified as a 2019 Chrysler 300. Based on the known criminal activity and safety concerns, a high-risk traffic stop was conducted on the Chrysler at the intersection of 18 St SW and 8 Ave SW. A female juvenile and male juvenile were taken into custody and the owner of the car was contacted. The Chrysler had also been stolen by the juveniles, but the owner of the car was not aware it had been taken until Police contacted him.

Further investigation revealed all 4 juveniles knew one another and 3 of them had worked in collaboration to commit a burglary of a farmstead in rural Eldridge, ND. The owner of the farmstead was known by one of the juveniles. Based on evidence and statements, it is also suspected at least 2 of the juveniles had gone through multiple vehicles in Jamestown from late Sunday evening (June 16) through Monday morning (June 17). Stolen items were recovered in both stolen vehicles. It is believed the vehicles entered would have been located in the Northwest and Northeast quadrants of Jamestown, but it is possible other areas could have been targeted.

Two early-teen male juveniles will be referred to Juvenile Court on suspicion of the following charges: Burglary; Possession of Stolen Property; Theft of Motor Vehicles; Possession of a stolen firearm; Unlawful Entry into a Motor Vehicle; and Minor in Possession of alcoholic beverages.
One teenage female juvenile will be referred to Juvenile Court on suspicion of Possession of Stolen Motor Vehicle and Minor in Possession of alcoholic beverages.
