The funeral service for Juanita “Nita” Tewksbury, Fargo, North Dakota formerly Edgeley, North Dakota will be 10:30 am, Monday June 24 at Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel, Valley City, North Dakota with visitation one hour prior. The burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Edgeley. Nita passed away June 18, 2024, at Eventide Fargo.
Juanita Belle (Olson) Tewksbury, 93, was born on her grandparents’ farm near Edgeley, North Dakota on March 27, 1931. Her joys from childhood were her pony “Snooks”, participating in 4-H and being crowned “2nd ever Dairy Queen”. Nita graduated from Edgeley High School in 1949. In 1953, She graduated from NDSU and taught home economics in Barnesville, Minnesota before moving to Medina, North Dakota.
Nita married Richard Tewksbury on December 28, 1952. In 1956, they moved to Edgeley where they had a dairy and crop farm. They had three children. In 1998, they retired from farming, moved to Fargo, North Dakota and wintered in Mesa, Arizona. Richard died January 25, 2012.
Nita is survived by her children Deborah (Bobby) Koepplin, Scott (Jodi) Tewksbury and Kathy (Doug) Hegseth; grandchildren Mindi (Caleb) Leonard, Jessie Koepplin, Jeremy (Paige) Koepplin, Shannon (Rick) Duerr, Allison (Andrew) Bauers, Austin Hegseth and Breanna Hegseth and four great grandchildren Mazzi and Nori Leonard, Teagan Koepplin and Calvin Bauers. She is also survived by her brothers-in-law Nick Roster, Lewellyn Tewksbury and sister-in-law Jeannie Bargen.
She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Cleo Jean Roster and several sisters and brothers -in -law.
