Harriet Dimmer, 92, of Valley City, North Dakota passed away Monday, August 26, 2024, in CHI Mercy Health, Valley City. A funeral mass will be celebrated 10:30 AM, Saturday, August 31 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Fingal, North Dakota. Visitation will be Friday from 5-7 PM at Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel, Valley City. Visitation will continue Saturday at Holy Trinity from 9-10 AM with a rosary recited at 10 AM followed by the funeral mass. The burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Fingal.
Harriet Magdalen Weber was born March 25, 1932, in Springvale Township near Fingal, North Dakota, the daughter of John C. and Clara (Gruman) Weber. She attended the Wagner Country School and attended Fingal High School, graduating in 1950. In 1953, she received her teaching certificate from Valley City State College, Valley City.
On July 21, 1954, she was united in marriage to Gregory Dimmer. They made their home in Alice, North Dakota where she taught school for one year. She continued to teach for three more years in Barnes County area before raising their family. In 1955, they began farming in the Fingal area until retiring and moving to Valley City.
Harriet was past treasurer of the Springvale Township, a former CCD instructor at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, and a member of St. Ann’s Society.
She loved playing Bingo and going to casinos where she could play her favorite, slot video poker. Most of all, Harriet enjoyed spending time with and attending her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s activities near and far.
Harriet is survived by her four children, Renee Anderson of Moorhead, MN; John(Connie) Dimmer, Oriska, ND; Neal (Colleen) Dimmer, Tower City, ND; Darrell (Vicki) Dimmer, West Fargo, ND; nine grandchildren, Amy (Dave) Fiske, Otsego, MN; Cindy (Jared) Schiers, Draper, UT; Michael (Lacey) Anderson, Fargo; Sarah (Bryce) Mikkelsen, Langdon, ND; John (Jessica) Anderson, Fargo; Jessica (Dustin) Theurer, Tower City; Amanda (Adam) Pilgrim, Tower City; Tedi Dimmer, Wheaton, MN and Gregory Dimmer, West Fargo, ND; 17 great grandchildren and a sister-in-law Patricia Dimmer, Fargo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Joseph, brother and sister-in-law, Clem and Barbara Weber, and a granddaughter Charlene Dimmer.
